For construction and trades

Get change orders signed on the homeowner’s phone.

Write up the change on site and send it to the homeowner. It comes back signed, with the price and the extra days on it. Contracts, subcontracts and safety sign-offs go out the same way. Maple eSign is Canadian-owned and hosted in Canada. It’s free to use, and you can sign up online, for yourself or your team.

Change orders

The homeowner signs the change before the work goes ahead.

You sign the change order first. The homeowner then reads the change, the price and the extra days on her phone and signs it, and you can tell the crew to go ahead. Ontario’s guide says you can’t charge more than 10% over an estimate unless the customer asks for extra or different work and you both sign a change.

Templates

Set up your job paperwork once and reuse it on every job.

Save the renovation contract, change order, subcontract agreement and site safety orientation as templates. The fields stay where you put them, and only the customer, the job and the price change. A trade who is new to the site signs the safety orientation on their own phone.

How Maple eSign handles trust

Before you start

In Ontario, changes go in writing and you both sign them.

Here are four rules from Ontario’s guide for home renovation businesses that touch your paperwork. We read it on October 26, 2026. Other provinces have their own consumer protection laws, so check yours.

Ontario, home renovation contracts

Before you sign a change

  1. A contract worth more than $50 must be in writing.
  2. You can’t charge more than 10% over an estimate unless the customer asks for extra or different work and you both sign a change.
  3. Put proposed changes in writing, and both of you sign the changed contract.
  4. A contract signed at the customer’s home has a 10-day cooling-off period.
