For signers

Someone sent you a document to sign. Here’s what happens next.

Open it, read it, and sign when you’re ready. The document, the fields you need to fill in, any identity check and your consent are all in one place, in any modern browser on your phone or computer.

The signing path, screen by screen

What you’ll see, step by step.

Tap through an example invitation on the phone. The sender is made up, but the steps are the ones you’ll see.

  1. An email from the person or company who sent it, naming the document. If they asked for an access code, Maple eSign asks for it before anything opens.

  2. The whole agreement comes first. The fields that are yours are marked, so you can see exactly what is being asked of you.

  3. Initials, dates, choices, attachments. Maple eSign keeps track of what is required and takes you to the next one.

  4. Type your name, draw it with your finger, or upload a picture of your signature.

  5. You confirm you want to sign electronically. Nothing is submitted until you press the button, and Decline is always there.

  6. Maple eSign seals the finished agreement so it can’t be changed without it showing. The sender will send you your copy.

Signer questions

Common questions.

Signer notes, page 1 of 1

1. Can Maple eSign explain the agreement?
No. Maple eSign handles the signing, but questions about what the agreement says should go to the sender or your adviser.
2. What if the document or recipient is wrong?
Stop and contact the sender. Your invitation is personal, so do not forward it or complete it for someone else.
3. Can I decline?
Yes. Declining records the outcome and lets the sender know the agreement was not completed.
4. Where is my completed copy?
Once everyone has signed, Maple eSign creates a sealed final copy. The sender decides how to get it to you.

Need to get back to your document?

Your personal link is in the invitation email. Open it from there to pick up where you left off. For questions about the document itself, ask the sender. For problems with signing, like the invitation, a field, an identity check or submitting, Maple eSign support can help.
